Title: Home Medication Management System
In 2008, my wife made a deal with me; if she took over management of my medications, she would not leave me. I may be “twisting” her words a bit, but that is how I heard it. (Without pushing taking meds or the fact that I take them and without them, I can’t function successfully.) I can take my own meds without my wife’s help. However, by including her in my daily distribution, it actually gets her directly involved in my recovery. It also gives her peace of mind not having to wonder if I’m taking my meds. When I was left to my own med management , I would not be 100% compliant. I’ve skipped a few days here and there and then a few weeks until I just stopped altogether.
It seems juvenile to do that. (It happens more than you may think.) So, my Sunday Stew offers this recommendation: try letting your significant other take control of distribution of your medication. If not for any other reason then to be able to blame them when you’re not having a good day (because they forgot to give you your medications.) Also, GONE is the constant nagging– ‘DID YOU TAKE YOUR MEDS?!’
So I say, let them have the responsibility and become your scapegoat when you flip-out cause you did not get your meds. At the same time, let them sleep peacefully knowing they have us well-medicated.
