2011 Mental Health humor Graffiti Art Therapy creative therapy

Police Officer: Graffiti is not art therapy

Art Therapy is the use of art and creative therapy expression to build a deeper connection to our feelings and well-being through our artistic expression.  This self-knowledge is based on accessing our “right-brain” and is helpful in identifying and controlling our emotion, leading to healing.  For me, i just love to draw… Even if it’s graffiti!

Title: Children are the outboard motors on flotation devices

Going to the beach is so therapeutic for our family! You would think that living in Florida gives us the opportunity to go the beach daily…Well, when we lived in Sarasota that was true, until the red-tide caused my kids’ asthma to go into over-drive.

We had to move more inland and away from the break out areas. Yes, it worked, but now we are close to the habor that goes into the mangrove wet lands/marsh. The water is murky and tea colored. We don’t go to the local beach much but every now and again we take a trip to the Englwood beach. It’s not Siesta Key Beach but it’s close.

I think we will have to make a plan to get back to that beach soon.

Facing Us Video Contest

Friday, July 8th, 2011

When I won the 1st place in the DBSA 2009 Facing Us Video Contest, I could not of envisioned/believed how much positive empowerment that little video would bring myself and others. The truth is… I thought after I got the prize money that would be the end of the video.

Not so fast!  That video helped me get to my first DBSA conference in 2010… Being there lead me to being able to do Stand -up comedy for the first time… I thought, “cool” nothing else could come from the video right…?
