Today I stumbled upon something that dropped my jaw, which usually means I’m going to write about it.  At the risk of giving further promotion something I consider truly awful, I’ll talk mostly about the dynamics and morals, not so much about the actual company.

Website For Committed Women Looking To Cheat

  • Like it or not it is a reality of life. Before this there were social groups for such things often co-opted by swingers groups. And this is not that unique even for a dating website. Though I’m not sure if your shock is do with the cheating or the fact that it is for women…

    I would say that for the cheating as I said this is nothing new. However, for women to be involved so directly and heavily is a result of women’s liberation. Because people are people and as we become free to do and act as we please then not only do our merits shine but also do our faults.

    • I suppose my shock is that it is so blatant and unapologetic. I mean, no shred of an attempt to hide the direct purpose of facilitating cheating. It’s about as subtle as saying, “Feeling down? How about a shot of heroin to cheer you up?” Also interesting that it is targeted straight to women, though many different formats have certainly existed as you mentioned.

      True enough about the freedom to act as we want – faults certainly come through. But do we have the guts to truly label those faults for what they are and take responsibility for all the damage left in our wakes? I don’t know about that. The website probably doesn’t tell women how to explain all this to their kids or how to live with themselves when/if the true impact of their actions becomes apparent.

  • Well I personally can’t be a moral judge because I have slept with married women before but I can tell you that it really is never as brazen as it may seem on website, at least for those who have never done it before. And generally it is due to unresolved issue with their current or past relationships than it is about wanton sex. The site probably draws attention because often times these women don’t feel desired by their companion so often they go looking for sex when really what they want is someone to look at them with that look and to mean it. So the sex draws them but a personal connection and real intimacy will keep them coming back for more.

    And truth be told men aren’t all that different except in the expectations and views of society.

  • @Kenneth:
    What is your basis for saying groups that arrange discreet cheating are often co-opted by swingers groups? Because that sounds highly doubtful to me, as swingers groups are all about having sex with other partners in a way that is CONSENSUAL

  • I’m sorry, I accidentally hit “send” on that comment while I was still writing. I’ll write the whole thing here.

    @Kenneth:

    What is your basis for saying groups that arrange discreet cheating are often co-opted by swingers groups? Because that sounds highly doubtful to me, as from all I have heard, swingers groups are all about having sex with other partners in a way that is CONSENSUAL, meaning BOTH partners agree, and partners are open and honest about this mutual decision – it is not “cheating” in that there is no deception involved. Furthermore, I think that swinging tends generally to be just about sex, with no emotional attachment. This is the opposite of cheating – as you said, cheating is usually about unresolved issues in relationships, and it is as much emotional as it is sexual. In contrast, most swingers have loving, emotionally committed marriages, and are truly honest with one another.

    Please don’t let your personal judgments obscure the facts.

  • I think that the site that is being discussed is the widely popular ashleymadison.com. Although most of society thinks that this behavior is quite negative, there is still a bunch of people that participate.
