Thanks so much for creating a place for people to talk about addiction from a non-addict point of view. Non-addicts certainly need a place like this as much as addicts do. Happy to have a link here for you.

I made this forum when I realized that there is no place for the non addicts dealing with issues of addiction and I made a place for anybody who has had to cope with problems can tell their story or hear others or just talk….I am there and Ive been through it and accutally want to talk to others…im still going through it

In the state of Florida you can have a person “Baker Acted” two family members to sign this document and the person in need of help by law is sent to a rehap center for 30 days. It is worth looking into in your state. God bless you and watch over you and protect the innocent children.

Iam the mother of 3 daughters all who are drug addicts, the oldest is ON METadone but i think shes doing other drugs also, the other 2 are on the harder DRUGS USE NEEDLES COCAIN ETC.tHE YOUNGEST LIVES WITH US AS DOES HER 3 YR OLD AND 3 OTHER GRndchildren, she is driving us all crazy i just dont know how much more i can take, shes very disrespectful and verbal abusive to the kids, i have thrown her out several times but i let her come back because the only place she has to go is to the drug suppliers.like the other daughter she wont go to a rehab to stay and get help.I just dont know what to do id be willing to sign anything to get her help, i dont see why we cant commit our children when they are a danger to them self as well as us.I did get custody of her child to protect it from being took to the drug houses.there is an over dose here in our town at least every few weeks.PLEASE some one HELP US

I have been a drug addict for years.I lost my kids and my family,but have since got them back.I have been clean for 14 months.I am happy.I am in counseling and therapy.I got to meetings and thrive in my environment.I still stay with family and I am not strong enough to be on my own.I read and pray everyday.I have alot of grieving due to my drug addiction.But I carry on,thrilled to be alive.I am free.I am available.Please feel free to contact me.

I LOST MY SON, AGE 22 TO AN OVERDOSE. I THEN BECAME ADDICTED TO DRUGS BECAUSE OF THIS PAIN.(NOT AN EXCUSE) i WENT TO REHAB, HAD ALOT OF SUPPORT AND NOW I’M HAPPY TO REPORT CLEAN FOR 6 YEARS. I AM NOT ATTENDING COLLEGE OTO GET MY DEGREE AS A DRUG AND ALCOHOL COUNSELOR.. I FOUND MY HIGHER POWER AND LIVE EVERYDAY FOR HIM. HE HAS LEAD ME IN THIS DIRECTION AND I LOVE MY LIFE. I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL GRANDAUGHER WHO LOVES ME AND I ADORE. HER DAD IS IN JAIL DUE TO HIS ADDICTION. WE HAVE ALL SUFFERED BUT LET ME TELL YOU THERE IS HOPE. I AM A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THIS.
SO PLEASE HANG IN THERE AND KNOW YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
I AM GOING TO SCCHOOL SO THAT I CAN HELP KIDS AND PARENTS LEARN TO LOVE GOD AND EACHOTHER. IF I CAN HELP ONE PERSON I WILL HAVE FOUND MY PURPOSE FOR THIS PAIN. DON’T GIVE UP. to Peggy – step one is get help for YOURSELF. Try Alanon, or call your local mental health society or public agency and find out about groups and individual help available for people with your problem. Being frantic and terrified all the time will just destroy you.

He cannot be committed anywhere unless he is an obvious immediate risk to himself or others; it doesn’t sound as if this is the case.

Another thought: Would he go with you to counseling sessions regarding his sister’s death to support you? This way you are not putting him on the spot as having the “problem” yet you have made one step to begin a process to help both of you. It might allow him to hear your fear without becoming defensive.
