Illustrator and speaker Matthew Johnstone created the short animated video “I Had a Black Dog” for the World Health Organization, for the occasion of World Mental Health Day 2012. Recently it’s gone viral, and it’s easy to see why.

A simple to understand analogy with excellent illustrations and examples of symptoms, Johnstone describes the “black dog” of depression that followed him everywhere he went and took over his life. Finally, he got professional help and learned to tame it.

An inspiring work of excellent health communication.
