The new issue of Rolling Stone, out today, features a cover story about Rihanna during which the singer discusses her “difficult upbringing” and the “endless rumors about her relationships,” as well as shows an impressive amount of compassion toward ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
Back in February, Brown’s judge was considering reducing (and soon did reduce) his restraining order against Rihanna – something Rihanna did not object to.
During her Rolling Stone piece, Rihanna offers some insight about why she decided not to oppose the restraining order reduction:
That’s my decision. It doesn’t mean we’re gonna make up, or even talk again. It just means I didn’t want to object to the judge. We don’t have to talk ever again in my life. I just didn’t want to make it more difficult for him professionally. What he did was a personal thing – it had nothing to do with his career. Saying he has to be a hundred feet away from me, he can’t perform at awards shows – that definitely made it difficult for him.
Fortunately for Brown, the restraining order reduction is just one more thing that won’t interfere with his career.
Despite a violent outburst at ABC’s studio (Brown appeared on Good Morning America to promote his new album, F.A.M.E., but after co-anchor Robin Roberts continued to ask him about the 2009 incident with Rihanna, Brown shattered a window offstage and left without performing his second song), ABC has decided not to press charges – a move that prevents Brown from going before his judge on parole violation charges and, most likely, prison.
How do you feel about Rihanna’s attitude toward Chris Brown and his career? Healthy? Or, should she not care one way or the other about his professional life?
