If you’ve been online for any significant amount of time today, you’ve probably already heard the news about the supposed emotional breakdown of Britian’s Got Talent’s Susan Boyle.
People reports that Britain’s Daily Mail reports Boyle exhibited signs of exhaustion and emotional breakdown and was voluntarily admitted to a private clinic in London.
Police were summoned to Boyle’s hotel in the British capital, where the Scottish singing sensation exhibited symptoms of “emotional breakdown” following the show’s Saturday finale, the paper reports.
“We were called about 6 p.m. on Sunday to a central London hotel to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act,” a police spokesperson tells the paper.
“Police attended at the request of ambulance personnel and the woman was taken voluntarily to a clinic. No one was arrested and there were no allegations of crime.”
Although a clinic spokeswoman wouldn’t confirm or deny whether Boyle was admitted (I can’t believe they even expected she would), Britian’s Got Talent producers did release a statement:
“Following Saturday night’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery … We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery.”
None of this is surprising. Susan Boyle’s life changed dramatically the minute she belted out the first few lyrics to “I Dreamed A Dream” in front of a skeptical - and then stunned - audience and panel of judges. She went from living a pretty quiet, private life to becoming an international sensation. She inspired both hope (”If she can realize her dream, maybe I can, too”) and criticism (people actually cared that she gave her ‘do a revamp), and even though this supposed breakdown came after she lost the talent show that rocketed her to fame, it could have very well happened sooner.
Here’s to hoping Susan Boyle finds the rest she needs and wishing her a speedy recovery and smooth transition back into whatever life holds in store for her next.

I wish Susan a speedy and full recovery. It must of been hard for her to go from anonymous to famous in a matter of months. I hope this doesn’t deter her because Ms. Boyle does have talent. I do wish her the best sincerely.
@ hopefulandoptimistic - I agree; going from completely unknown to someone the world regularly Googles was probably really difficult! Fortunately, Susan Boyle seems to be doing much better, and I’ve heard Simon Cowell is going to produce an album for her once her obligations to Britain’s Got Talent are over. Good news!
