Wishing Susan Boyle A Speedy Recovery

Susan Boyle returns home after shopping

If you’ve been online for any significant amount of time today, you’ve probably already heard the news about the supposed emotional breakdown of Britian’s Got Talent‘s Susan Boyle.

People reports that Britain’s Daily Mail reports Boyle exhibited signs of exhaustion and emotional breakdown and was voluntarily admitted to a private clinic in London.

Police were summoned to Boyle’s hotel in the British capital, where the Scottish singing sensation exhibited symptoms of “emotional breakdown” following the show’s Saturday finale, the paper reports.

“We were called about 6 p.m. on Sunday to a central London hotel to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act,” a police spokesperson tells the paper.

“Police attended at the request of ambulance personnel and the woman was taken voluntarily to a clinic. No one was arrested and there were no allegations of crime.”

Although a clinic spokeswoman wouldn’t confirm or deny whether Boyle was admitted (I can’t believe they even expected she would), Britian’s Got Talent producers did release a statement:

“Following Saturday night’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery … We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery.”

None of this is surprising. Susan Boyle’s life changed dramatically the minute she belted out the first few lyrics to “I Dreamed A Dream” in front of a skeptical – and then stunned – audience and panel of judges. She went from living a pretty quiet, private life to becoming an international sensation. She inspired both hope (“If she can realize her dream, maybe I can, too”) and criticism (people actually cared that she gave her ‘do a revamp), and even though this supposed breakdown came after she lost the talent show that rocketed her to fame, it could have very well happened sooner.

Here’s to hoping Susan Boyle finds the rest she needs and wishing her a speedy recovery and smooth transition back into whatever life holds in store for her next….

Jodie Sweetin Will Soon Share Her 'UnSweetined' Life

In keeping with the celebrity tell-all theme (see yesterday’s Mary Weiland Falls To Pieces, Tells All In Upcoming Memoir), I thought now would be as good a time as any to chime in on Jodie Sweetin’s upcoming memoir UnSweetined.

According to the New York Post‘s Page Six, Full House‘s Stephanie Tanner (that’s Sweetin) shares her story as a former drug abuser, highlighting how she continued to drink and use methadone, cocaine, and ecstasy while she traveled the country giving anti-drug speeches at colleges, as well as how discovering she was pregnant was the swift kick she needed to get her life together.

Like Mary Weiland’s memoir, Sweetin’s UnSweetined isn’t scheduled for release until October; however, the public’s already weighing in and, also similar to how people are reacting to Weiland’s book, people aren’t too impressed to find out about Sweetin’s. Though a very few offer well wishes, the majority of the reader comments under the Page Six article are pretty harsh and cynical.
