Celebrity Psychings

Even though I occasionally make reference to The Force, say things like “Luke, I am your father” into fans like Chris Farley does in Tommy Boy (though, I’m told that’s actually a misquote), and am absolutely terrified of Chewbacca, I pretty much know absolutely nothing about Star Wars.

Laugh all you want, but I bet anything I could kick your tail at Harry Potter trivia.

Anyway, aside from the fact that she played Princess Leia in Star Wars and has bipolar disorder, I also don’t know that much about Carrie Fisher; however, after reading this hysterical excerpt from her memoir Wishful Drinking (December 2008, Simon & Schuster), I think Carrie Fisher is someone I’d definitely like to get to know.

A dad who ran off with Elizabeth Taylor? Substance abuse lectures from Cary Grant? Invites to psychiatric hospitals and “Hollywood in-breeding”?

Who wouldn’t be morbidly fascinated?

Of course, it’s always interesting to learn about the the bumps, blunders, and even successes people experience that put spotlights on why they behaved the way they did and how they became who they are today.

I may check out Wishful Thinking at some point in the future. Feel free to share your thoughts if you’ve read it, or, for whatever other reason, happen to know a lot of random yet interesting details about Carrie Fisher’s life.

In the meantime, check out these articles for further info about Fisher and her trials and triumphs with bipolar disorder:
