Cecie and I were invited to visit Ljubljana (lyoo-blee-ah-nah), Slovenia for the release of the Slovene edition of Bipolar Disorder for Dummies. We accepted and have been in Slovenia since this past Thursday, 10/8/2009. We flew into Venice on Thursday to meet our gracious hosts, Darja Budja (“j” is pronounced “y”) and her husband Simon Perko. Darja translated the book into Slovene and is a devoted bipolar advocate. She has created her own bipolar blog (bipolarna.si) and is one of the organizers of an active bipolar support group in Ljubljana.

Bipolar Porch. The very latest on breaking Bipolar Disorder news…

  • Hi! Glad to have you in Slovenia! I hope I can catch one of your book presentations tomorrow.

  • Congratulations! What a huge and amazing accomplishment!

  • Very interesting! Love your book & have given it to many people. Also, interesting about the use of Klonopin. My meds provider (psychiatric nurse practitioner) has prescribed Klonopin for me to take at night for many years. I’ve never had to increase the dosage & take a low dose (1 mg.) It DOES help me sleep & I’m not tempted to take it during the day as it does make me SLEEPY & I don’t want to be sleepy during the day.

I’m too interested in living a quality life, but I did have a manic episode caused by lack of sleep that then ended up w/a major & fast & deep depression that had dire consequences so it has been impressed on me I NEED to sleep!

  • Spread the word on understanding.

  • The work you are doing is so wonderful! I am glad that bipolar is being addressed globally so that we can share and receive more information. Thank you for all the work you are doing!
