Out of the darkness, I have been on a 15 year journey back since my last psycotic break. Having had multiple episodes within a year my prognosis in 1996 was not good. I was on long term disability for two years. I had left my profession of choice for 12. I also see this as my bipolar advantage not my bipolar disorder, even during my ongoing recovery, 3 years ago to be exact I was below the official poverty line in income and about to loose everything but my mind.
My bipolar advantage allowed me to lay waste to the statistics about 50 something chronically underemployed people about to be forclosed on. I have beaten the odds. I still am employed part time but make well above the median income for a household of four in my area as a household of one. I successfully renegotiated my mortgage on my own. No Obama Bail as I over qualified on the income standard. I made too much money to get federal help. I am at 100% reaching for the next 50% thanks to my advantage.
