Anxiety about Mexico

By Laura L. Smith, Ph.D.

Some people that I care about are supposed to be returning from a trip to Mexico. They found a house close to the beach just a little south of a resort area. The cost was reasonable and they were looking forward to the break. I am a bit nervous today waiting for news of their return. In fact, right now when I’m thinking about it—it feels pretty scary.

  • Laura: You seem like a very interesting person and I would love to read your books on OCD. I also authored a book called Overcoming OCD & Depression: My Personal Journey and Recovery. It has done well and the lives it has changed has been wonderful. Love to get my book to you. Dave

  • I live in south Texas, so we hear a lot about Mexico. I also fear when people I care about travel there. As much beauty as there is to Mexico, there is also a safety issue, particulary in certain areas. I haven’t been there in well over a decade, partly out of fear. I hope all is well with your son.

  • Yep, he’s back in NYC safe and sound–except a few days after he got back there was a tornado–teaches me to worry about travel disasters!
