Leigh Cousins a private tutor and test prep coach with 20+ years of experience. She holds a BA in psychology from Barnard College and an MS in education, and she’s done significant doctoral work in educational psychology and cognitive development. Her doctoral research focused on understanding children’s difficulties in mathematics and developing effective diagnostic and remedial techniques for teaching and tutoring.

Leigh has taught mathematics at a school for special-needs children, given teacher workshops for schools, taught education courses at the college level, and run parent workshops as well as test prep classes. She homeschooled her own children for several years and she continues to work with homeschool families and homebound students.

Before entering the field of educational psychology, Leigh worked for ten years as a relationship coach, and she is still active in providing support and information to single and coupled adults.

Leigh is presently writing a book about her experiences as a tutor, the methods she uses for helping students, and the surprising insights she’s gained about learning throughout life. She is available for speaking engagements and individual consultations. Please visit her website: www.leighcousins.com.
