ADHD from A to Zoe

Forgive me Lord, it’s been nearly two weeks since I wrote my last interim self-coaching report.

Yesterday, I tried writing down some concrete goals, with steps to achieve them. I forgot all about what I’d said in my last self-coaching post, and had no idea where to begin.

In the meantime, this morning I had a dream. It was a dream about bears. Lots of bears.

  • Blogging and responding to comments has put you in transparent and vulnerable position (glass windows and doors)where you are teaching people who read your blog and learning from people who comment on same(and not all comments are easy or fun to deal with) which has created more introspection (the bears) than you have ever experienced before.

This comment was fun for me and my analytical, intuitive mind. But bare in mind, my comment is just an fun exploration of what came to mind as I read the blog. I have no training and nor have I read much on dream interpretation.

    Enjoyed the read.

    • Thanks for your comment, Denim! I’m so glad you liked the post. I guess all writers have their own “favs,” and I admit, this one had a lot of juice for me!

I thought your interpretation was quite apt, re: vulnerability (glass walls, etc.; I hadn’t caught that). Cool. Only one amendment: I have been a highly introspective person since forever, but you are right in that writing this blog and reflecting on (and responding to) the comments certainly demands a more rigorous attention to introspection on a more regular basis. I try not to be too hasty in my responses, even when I’m upset (or make that, ESPECIALLY when I’m upset), although sometimes (like the situation with the Doug comment) I feel time is of the essence, especially if I feel there’s faulty or damaging information being voiced. I feel a huge sense of responsibility as to what is presented on this, my very own little blog space, and I am commited to accuracy on all counts, as much as humanly possible.

Also, I like to let visitors who take the time to respond to my posts KNOW they’re appreciated and valued, and responding in a timely basis is part of that respect and appreciation. I admit that having to be responsive in a timely manner feels like part of my own personal treatment for my ADHD symptoms, procrastination being a large part of my ADHD repertoire!

Thanks again for your insightful comment!
      Z.

  • I caught that being in a “glass house” thing, also, and was amazed at how it fit with all of us(your readers) watching you in your own space(your blog) being chased by your need to succeed(self coaching).

Another thing that gave me pause was that we all set goals based on what we want our lives to be like or become, that would be our dreams. So relying on your “dreams” to help you achieve your dreams(goals) makes perfect sense …

    • Cool! Thanks for the insights, Kelly!

  • Procrastination has been my Bane, always and has cost me thousands of dollars in income through the years….few quotes (or close) from the UCLA Basketball Coach, John Wooden. “If you Don’t Do It NOW, When are you going to Do IT?” – the other, “If you don’t Do it Right the First Time, When are you going to find the Time again to Redo It RIGHT? Take a breath and slowly move to do things. Then it is don & OVER…Relief & No More Stress and Self-Criticism….Do it enough and it is second nature, ergo a good habit. Any improvement is a measured Plus. Follow thru and Carry On.

    • Thank you SO MUCH, In Hoc Signo Vinces!
The pep talk is most appreciated. It’s so hard for me to slow down, after 51 years of messing up. I just need to breathe (as you say) and trust that it will all unfold as its meant to. Your comment is most appreciated!
      Cheers,
      Z.
